Jonathan Park is Saved

We can breath a sigh of relief. The Jonathan Park series will continue! Today was the last day for funding the Save Jonathan Park campaign. Not only did the reach the minimum amount of $10,000, but hit their stretch goal and exceeded that as well! To God be the glory!

Now, the CreationWorks team have enough to make a downpayment to buy the rights to JP, repackage all the albums under the CreationWorks name, and cover the cost of producing a new album. The team is currently in the process of brainstorming and writing for Volume 10 with a tentative release date of Christmas of this year. We did it, guys. We helped save Jonathan Park and now it can continue to bring more stories and science knowledge to millions of people.

Near the end of last year, after much internal turmoil, Vision Forum closed it's doors. With the closing of the ministry also meant that the future of Jonathan Park was uncertain. Until now...

CreationWorks, Pat & Sandy Roy's creation ministry, has the opportunity to buy back the rights to the series to continue the show. But they can't do it alone. To purchase the rights, they need to have $100,000. To raise the money, the Roys and their team have started a page on Fundable to give us a chance to save Jonathan Park.

By pledging money, you'll help them to keep JP on the radio, make new episodes, and repackage all the albums. When you donate, you'll be able to receive certain rewards like an exclusive never before released ebook, a JP t-shirt, an opportunity to visit the recording session to watch the cast record the show, and much more!

Novarupta

Pat Roy and his team at CreationWorks (the Roy's own Creation ministry) is working on a special project called Novarupta.

 

The year is 1916. Dr. Robert Griggs is leading a National Geographic expedition to a volcanic blast zone never seen by human eyes. As his team summits a hill, a valley spreads out before him with thousands of active volcanic vents. That area was named by his team as the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes. And it was created by the largest volcano in modern times, Novarupta.

Almost a hundred years later creation researcher, Dr. David Shormann, discovers a book written by Griggs, and decides to return back this remote part of the Alaskan wilderness with his family and friends. Their goal is to document the overwhelming evidence for creation, the worldwide flood, and an ice age. Their goal is to find evidence to build the faith of Christians, and challenge the non-believer. But to do that, they’ll have to survive bear encounters, pumice storms and freezing rivers.

The CreationWorks team is working on a video documentary along with a 3 part radio drama special that tells the story of the expedition and the impact it's made on science.

The Quest for the Golden Script

Attention, young scriptwriters! CreationWorks, an organization dedicated to getting the message of a 6 day Creation out to the public, is hosting a special contest called The Quest for the Golden Script.

Homeschoolers, ages 12-18, are given the chance to write a radio drama script that best conveys the message of Creation in a fun and exciting way. The grand prize winner will get their script fully produced by the CreationWorks team, including Pat & Sandy Roy (the creators of Jonathan Park!)! It's an opportunity you don't want to miss! R.I.P. Buddy Roy

I recently received an email from Pat Roy, JP's co-creator and writer, and it contained some information that I felt I should share with all of you.

Jonathan Park Team,

 

As many of you know, on our series the Brenans have a dog named Shadow.

 

From the very beginning of the series, we decided to use our dog, Buddy to play the role of Shadow, instead of using canned sound effects. And Buddy did do most of the tracks. Buddy could bark and howl on cue.

 

On Saturday night (December 3rd), Buddy lost a quick bout with a brain tumor. He was 14 years old (and was in pretty good health for his age).

 

His passions (besides acting) included camping, hanging out at the beach, canoeing, and protecting his family. He was one of the most tender-hearted dogs I’ve known. When Sandy and I first got Buddy (he actually chose us), we prayed that somehow he could be used for eternal purposes. It makes me smile that millions have heard him on our series, and that he was a tool for spreading the creation message. Further, he was often the door-opener for many witnessing opportunities.

 

I am fully aware that he was only a dog, but since he played a part on our team I wanted to pay him final tribute!

 

May the Lord continue to use all that we do for His glory!
